The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, has appointed Pa. Ehigie Paul Oviasuyi, a retired Brigadier in the Nigerian Army as the Odionwere of Irokhin Community in Uhunwmode Local Government Area of Edo State, marking the begining of a new era.
Chief Uyi Okungbowa, the Aideyan-Oba of Benin, alongside Chief Isaac Oghafua Oyeoba, announced the decision of Oba Ewuare II during a recent meeting with elders of Irokhin Community in Oba Palace, Benin City, where a certain misconception was addressed.
In line with the decision of the Oba, jubilant elders and natives of Irokhin Community, converged on their Ogua’edion (elders Chamber) for the installation of the Odionwere, having fulfilled the necessary traditional rites alongside the Okaighele of Irokhin Community, Evans Oloye Isibor.
Pa. Oviasuyi who was assisted by the Ozukpogieva ― the second most-ranking elder of the Community, Pa. Ugiagbe Omafo, at the Ogua’edion where prayers and sacrifices were offered to his ancestors with the Ukhure ancestral staff of Irokhin ― symbolizing the beginning of his administration.
Speaking after his installation, the Community head of Irokhin, Pa. Oviasuyi, presented Evans Oloye Isibor as the Community Okaighele to the elders, and thanked the Oba of Benin for the honour.
Oviasuyi, promised to discharge his duty diligently, while leveraging on his experience in the military for peace and development of the area.
On their part, the second most-ranking elder in the Community, Pa. Ugiagbe Omafo and the Okaighele, madam Janet Ekhator and Raymond Enogieru, expressed delight for the successful installation and promised to work with the O
