Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army ― codenamed Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised two suspected bandits at Sarkin Kudu in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The hoodlums were smashed during a well-coordinated clearance operation aimed at flushing out criminal elements.
Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement.
He said troops swiftly mobilised to the general area for a tactical raid operation while acting on credible intelligence received from a reliable source on 18 May 2026 regarding the activities of suspected bandits.
He revealed that the suspects were at a hideout around Dooshima District in the Sarkin Kudu area of Ibi Local Government Area in Taraba State.
The statement said, “Upon reaching the area, the troops came in contact with the armed assailants, leading to a fierce exchange of fire with the criminals at the identified hideout.
“During the encounter, troops successfully neutralised two suspected bandits, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds”, according to the statement.
The statement also said a AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and a locally fabricated pistol in addition to another Android phone alongside Three small mobile phones and Two charm vests were recovered from the hoodlums.
The statement further said the recovered items are in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
