Transcorp Hilton, Abuja is considering a refund of money paid to use its facility for the African Democratic Congress, ADC Convention arising from fear of being sanctioned by forces from the state authority.
The event, is slated for April 14, 2026, amid derecognition of the party by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over leadership crisis that engulfed the party before the court.
The management of the hospitality business has neither confirm the development, but ADC Vanguard, the coalition’s mobilisation arm, alleged in a statement on Wednesday that the venue has been cancelled for undisclosed reasons.
The cancellation came just days before the planned gathering, according to a statement from the ADC Vanguard, the coalition’s mobilisation arm.
Party officials have said they will go ahead with the convention and are now looking for a suitable alternative location for the event.
Some ADC supporters have suggested moving the event to cities such as Kano or Kaduna, while others have viewed not to bulge by insisting that the programme of activities will continue regardless of the initial hiccup.
The ADC serves as the platform for a coalition of opposition figures preparing for the 2027 general elections, received notice that the hotel in Abuja would no longer host the event.
The political party had released a timetable for nationwide Congresses and the national convention earlier this month, according to multiple reports.
