Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin delighted worshippers who attended Wednesday night crossover service at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral also known as the Edo National Church in Benin City, Edo State.
Accompanied by members of the Royal family and his Children, Oba Ewuare, stepped into the New Year with amazing, regal strides — a powerful symbol of continuity, strength, and blessings for Benin kingdom and beyond.
It was the second time Oba Ewuare who practices African spirituality, observed Gregorian Calendar year in alignment with crossover service— seen as a christian derivative.
The first Class traditional ruler also has a private moment with his God between 12:16am and 12:25a.m at the ‘upper room in the temple where he interceded for the nation — Nigeria, after presenting a special Thanksgiving to God in appreciation, ahead of his 10th year Coronation anniversary in October.
The graceful dance and special prayer by the royal father, thrilled the audience at the convivial space where fireworks were displayed in a distance range, followed by a lavished reception.
In a homily titled, ‘contentment’, the presiding Priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa Edebiri Igbinoghodua, harped on the need for believers in God to be exemplary in their daily devotion to their Creator and make a positive impact on earth.
The Cleric also explained that the essence of the service is to begin the year with God and commit activities of the year to God in prayer and Thanksgiving, citing several milestones.
The church hall was filled to capacity during the service which was conducted in Edo Language, afforded worshippers the opportunity to present their requests to God in prayers, with great expectations.
Sonorous voices of Holy Aruosa Cathedral choir, set worshippers into the mood of worship, while Chiefs, Dukes (Enigie) groups and individuals, took turn to pay respect to the Benin throne.
