Gunmen strike Bureau De change agents in Edo

There was commotion on Sunday morning when gunmen allegedly fired gunshots at Bureau De change premises on Sokponba road by Erie street junction in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

But police authorities in Edo State have neither confirm nor deny the the jaw-breaking incident that left three persons injured, while residents of the area, fled their shops over fear of being knocked down by bullet.

Commuters and some pedestrians who were caught in the melee, told TheNewspad reporter that the scene was like Nollywood movie.

Another tenant in the area, expressed shock over the incident and lauded early arrival of security personnel response after the armed men who wrecked havoc had fled the scene at bureau De change premises in their operational vehicle.

“Some persons who were going to church immediately took cover. The shooting was like a Nollywood movie. Three persons sustained gunshot wound. But, we were lucky that nobody died during the incident.

A popular blogger, ‘visit Edo’ online media wrote on Facebook: “Terrible thing took place at sokponba road this afternoon. The police and security came fast but it was too late”.

The communication with our reporter and the Police Public Relations officer (2i/c) of the Police Command in Edo State, ASP Eno Ikoedem Deputy, who opted for Whatsapp channel discussion, was tossed after the message from the later sent to him went unreplied at time of filing this crime report.

Police patrol operatives have intensified security around Bureau De change premises in Metropolitan area in response to the attack.
