Journalists hail Okpebholo on new appointment in govt

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, has expressed excitement over the appointment of
Kassim Afegbua as the Commissioner for Information and and Strategy by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The thoughtful goodwill message, is expressed on Thursday in a statement, jointly signed by Patrick Ochoga and Elder Patrick Ahanor, Chairman and Secretary of the Chapel.

The group described Afegbua’s appointment as “well-deserved and a clear recognition of his outstanding commitment to public service and professionalism”.

Journalists expressed confidence  that the new information commissioner will bring renewed energy, innovation, and integrity to the task of managing the state’s information architecture and deepening government-media relations.

“As a critical partner in governance, the  Correspondents’ Chapel is open to continued Cooperation and constructive engagement with the Ministry of Information and Strategy to advance credible reportage, transparent communication geared towards the overall development agenda of the State government.

‎”We look forward to a fruitful partnership that will enhance public enlightenment, civic participation, and responsible journalism in Edo State”, according to the statement.
