A motorcyclist, Nzubechi Okezie has been remanded at the Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional for allegedly raping a female passenger, Amazu Okpuala in Mgbedeala Village, Isialangwa South Local Government Area of the State.
22-year-old victim, according to the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Danladi Isa, boarded his motorcycle to Isialangwa Junction in Abia State where the incident happened.
Briefing journalists on Friday at the police headquarters in Umuahia, Abia State, CP Danladi explained that the alleged rapist, suddenly diverted to a track road along the expressway, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of Okpuala.
He recalled that on 13th July 2025 at about 1250hrs, police authorities received a report at Owerintta Divisional headquaters that on 09 July 2025 at about 1250hrs” and acted on intelligence report that led to Okezie’s arrest and arraignment in court.
“On 13th July 2025 at about 1250hrs, we received a report at Owerintta Divisional headquaters that on 09 July 2025 at about 1250hrs one Mr. Mascot Nzubechi Okezie “male” 30yrs of Mgbedeala village in Isialangwa south LGA, raped a girl of 22yrs of Amazu Okpuala in Isialangwa North LGA, as she boarded his bike to Isialangwa Junction.
“Along the expressway, the cyclist diverted to a track road and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her. The suspect has been prosecuted and remanded in prison”, CP Isa, told journalists.
Similarly, police operatives in the State have arrested a 41-year-old Ogbonnaya Nwosu, who reportedly defiled a
12-year-old female minor
in Ugwuakuma village Arochukwu Local Government Area.
The alleged Paedophile, was arrested by the police following a report on 12th July 2025 at about 0940hrs at Arochukwu Divisional headquarters over the alleged crime.
The suspect lid was blown open after the victim confided in the Chairman of their village sometime in June 2025.
She alleged that the suspect lured her into an inner room at same address and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her and threatened to kill her if she discloses the illicit affairs to anyone.
“The Suspect Ogbonnaya Nwosu was arrested, he admitted committing the offence, while the victim was taken to Arochukwu General hospital for medical examination/treatment. Investigation is ongoing at SCID”.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia, CP Danladi Isa told journalists on Friday, the suspect will have his date in court soon.
