Kidnappers kill Kogi butcher after cow purchase

Police authorities have opened investigation into the alleged murder of popular butcher and cow merchant, in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, North Central Nigeria.

The victim identified as Mallam Seidu, reportedly killed by suspected kidnappers who allegedly lured and kidnapped after a successful cow business transaction with the hoodlums.

According to reports, the victim, was invited by a Fulani man, a day before the last Sallah celebration, to meet up with him at Achigili village, in nearby Biraidu District, Dekina LGA, purportedly for cow transaction.

Residents of the areas said that was the last time Seidu was seen alive.

A few days after, his family members were to receive call from his captors, suspected Fulani men, demanding N2m for his release.

Sources said, following the ransom payment, Seidu was not released by his captives.

Acting on intelligence report, the police were said to have launched an investigation, culminating in the arrest of two Fulani men.

The suspects who were said to have confessed killing their victim, led investigators to where his body was buried in a shallow grave.

Police in the area have called on the youth not to take laws into their hands, while also calling on Community elders to prevail on all, to maintain peace and order, assuring that all will be done at ensuring justice prevails.

TheNewspad reports that police authorities have stepped up surveillance in the area in the wave of the violence crime.
