Inspector slumps, dies over Real Madrid defeat

It was an agonizing moment for the family of a Nigeria Police Inspector Stephen Enang who reportedly slumped and died after realizing that he missed out an undisclosed winnings on Arsenal and Real Madrid football match bet in Calabar, Cross River State.

Arsenal defeat Spanish giants Real Madrid 3-0 on Tuesday night, leaving the victim who would have won an incredible amount of money if his prediction had come true.

He was native of Ekori in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, was attached to the Akim Police Division along IBB Way, Calabar, crestfallen.

Irene Ugbo, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Cross River, declined comments despite entreaties via telephone calls and messages by TheNewspad reporter.

But, a witness told Vanguard that Enang had slumped in his seat and was unresponsive. He was immediately rushed to the Police Hospital in Akim, where medical personnel made frantic efforts to revive him, but he was pronounced dead.

“He was soft-spoken, football-loving, and an ardent Arsenal supporter. This came as a huge shock to all of us”, according to the source.

TheNewspad reports that the tragedy seems to have unsettle officer and men in the Command.
