Edo Catholic Priest kidnapped during prayer

Gunmen have kidnapped a Catholic Priest Reverend Father Thomas Oyode while observing evening prayers with other Priests and laity Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Oyode, is the rector of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Ivhianokpodi in the Local Government Area, according to Director of Communications of the diocese, Reverend Father Peter Egielewa.

It was learnt that the Priest and other worshippers were observing their evening prayers and benediction when gunmen launched attack on the church at about 7PM on Sunday.

The Catholic diocese of Auchi, have embarked on prayer for the unconditional release of the hostage from captivity.

The spokesman for the diocese, has lodged an official report, seeking the assistance of law enforcement agencies in securing Reverend Father Oyode’s release.
