Two beheaded, barber, four others killed in Edo

A renewed cult war in some parts of the State have claimed the lives of nine persons within the past 48 hours in some parts of Edo State.

Two residents of Okabere Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State by Assailants, according to sources.

Grisly footages of the bloody clashes suggest that the casualty figure could rise in the coming days.

A middle-aged man simply identified as Austine and a barber shop owner in Upper Sokponba area in the early hours of Monday in the Council area.

The barber whose identity is yet-to-be ascertained, was shot dead for resisting attempts by suspected cultists to dispossess him of mobile phones belonging to his clients at his shop.

TheNewspad reports that the victim’s partner, escaped with gunshot wound when violent broke out.

A similar violent clash, linked to motor park leadership tussle, led to bloodbath at Ogbe quarters last weekend.

A youth who was caught in the crossfire, sustained bullet wound, while a trader at Oba market who was hit by a stray bullet was fatally injured in attack.

The killings have heightened tension in Benin, particularly at Oka market, Jesus Christ Road and Okabere quarters in the Council.

The State government is yet to comment on the recent killings, while the law enforcement agency has downplayed on the casualty figure.
