MKO Abiola’s campaign DG, Zwingina, dies at 70

Senator Jonathan Zwingina, the Director-General, Presidential Candidate Chief Moshood Abiola’s defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), is dead.

70-year-old Zwingina, was behind the ‘Hope ’93’ Presidential campaign organisation in the June 12 1993 election, which was nullified by former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (Retd) died after a protracted illness on Wednesday in Abuja.

Wilberforce Bafte Juta, Chief Joel Madaki, Late Solomon Lar and other prominent Nigerians were among the contemporaries of the late Senator who represented Adamawa Southern Senatorial District in the Senate.

His demise comes 26 years after Abiola, the acclaimed winners of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election died.

Nigerians have started sending tributes in honour of the departed Patriarch who was one of the founding members of Peoples Democratic Party.
