Edo Assembly recalls suspended Shaibu’s men …sends message to Okpebholo

The Edo State House of Assembly lifted the suspension of Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor in a botched leadership change, after five months.

Okogbe (PDP), representing Akoko-Edo II, was the only member who declined to sign the impeachment letter for the reinstated deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu.

Iyamu Bright (PDP) lawmaker, representing Orhionnwon II state Constituency was also suspended indefinitely over alleged plot to impeach the speaker and other Principal officers.

Iyamu was however recalled in June this year by the Assembly Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku having been found remorseful, leaving two others who were accused of bad behaviour were left behind since May 6.

The Speaker announced the pardon of the lawmakers when resumed on Wednesday at the Assembly Complex in Benin City where he also congratulated the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the just concluded governorship election in the State.

The Speaker also advised Okpebholo to be wary of sycophants ahead of his swearing on November 12, 2024, stressing that his victory at the poll is for Edo people, not for the All Progressives Congress.

TheNewspad reports that the Assembly approved 57 sitting days Calendar for the second quarter, second session of the 8th Assembly.
