Police operatives have arrested a suspected Paedophile has allegedly raped and impregnated his 16-year old step daughter and thereafter procured a failed abortion for the minor.
Brave Heart Initiative (BHI) in a Facebook post last week Thursday September 18, 2024 said the crime was happened recently in one of the communities, Akoko-Edo Local government Area of the State.
TheNewspad reports that the suspect had procured a failed abortion for the survivor in conivance with her sister in a bid to save their mother’s marriage.
But the secret which was uncovered after the abortion procured by the father of 16-year-old teenager failed, according to sources.
Executive Director of the Non Governmental Organization, Priscilla Usiobaifo stated that “the abortion process was initiated, but it failed. And we are thankful that the girl iss alive and recovering”.
She assured that justice will be served for the survivor, noting that the crime had been handed over to the Police Division at Igarra where he was thereafter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Usiobaifo said BHI team’s readiness to work with “the Edo State Ministry for Social Development and Gender Issues” for diligent investigation and prosecution.
She explained that “two of the man’s daughters from another woman found out about the ignoble act of their father and decided to procure an abortion for the survivor as means of protecting their father’s reputation.
“The abortion process was initiated, but failed. We are thankful that the girl is alive and recovering”, Usiobaifo said.
