Residents of Niger State have been thrown into mourning over the sudden death of 48 persons who lost their lives in a fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Sunday morning.
The road crash involving a petrol laden tanker, a truck with cattle and a passenger vehicle occurred Agaie-Bida road in Niger State.
Multiple reports said incident happened near Man-Woro village in the early hours of Sunday on Agaie-Bida road.
50 Cattle were also burnt alive in the crash.
The victims in the truck ladened with cattle were said to have taken off from Wudil, Kano State, heading for Lagos, while the passenger vehicle was reportedly going to Agaie Sunday market.
Abdullahi Baba-Arab, Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, revealed that 48 persons whose bodies were burnt beyond recognition had been given mass burial.
They were buried at Man-Woro village on Sunday morning in the Local government Area of the State, according to reports.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) had repeated sued for caution by road users and emphasize the need for drivers on wheels to observe safety rules.
