Edo-based Baptist Mission School (BMS),
(formerly known as Baptist High School, BHS) in Benin City, has emerged the second best Secondary school in the 2024 World Mathematics Tournament (WMT).
The fourth edition of the competition organised virtually by the Mathematics for Life Foundation for Secondary/ High school students globally, saw students from BMS, winning overall second position.
Ogun State-based missionary school, Welkin International schools, Atan-Ota, clinched the first position.
Nigeria was among the 33 Countries while the two Nigerian schools were among the 590 secondary schools that participated in competition held virtually.
Mr. Kevin Okunzuwa, BMS Parents Teachers Association Vice Chairman, commended the award winning SS3 students, Victor Obaseki Christian and Daniel Noel Isuekevbo, for doing both their parents and the school proud.
Okunzuwa called on government and stakeholders to invest more in the education sector, especially the capacity enhancement of teachers as well as providing conducive environment for the students to excel.
He urged BMS students to emulate Daniel and Christian’s feat, who have brought glory to themselves, their parents and the school in general.
