Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has taunted former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, urging defeated contestants in the 2023 to re-contest the 2027 general elections if they so wish.
Speaking on Channels television Sunday Politics, Uzodimma implored Atiku — the 2023 Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, and Obi — the Labour Party Candidate in the election and others to give peace a chance and support President Bola Tinubu-led government in fulfilling his electoral promises to Nigerians.
According to the Governor who did not mention Atiku and Obi’s names in the interview said, “Let those who lost the last election find courage and time to re-contest. Allow Mr President succeed”.
Uzodimma — Chairman of the All Progressive Congress Governors’ Forum said Nigeria Governors cannot fund State police due to lack of political will by Governors.
He also alleged that most State Governors cannot survive without Federation allocations from the federal government let alone fund vigilante groups in their States.
The Governor admitted that he does not know his successor, saying “power belongs to God”.
“As I speak, I do not know who will succeed me”, according to the Governor who promised to bequeath safe and secured State that is not synonymous with ‘bad news’ at the time of exit from office.
He said his second term achievements will dwarf his first term achievements in office, noting that “those who are thinking that I will not perform in my second term are living in illusion”.
Uzodimma revealed that more than 4,000 Imo State indigenes have acquired tech innovation skills by the State government.
