The Imo State government has commiserated with families of security agents who were allegedly set ablaze in an deadly ambush that ripped through Ehime Mbano Area of the State.
Security sources said two military personnel, police officers and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) died when criminals attacked Joint Task Force (JTF) Patrol teams vans in the early hours on Tuesday.
Speaking during on-the-spot assessment of the crime scene, with a heavily armed security personnel, Governor Hope Uzodimma, assured
justice for the victims of the ferocious attack and called for information that aide diligent investigation that will lead to the perpetrators if the heinous act.
The visibly angry Governor, prayed God almighty to grant grieving family members of the victims to cope with the loss.
He also called on its citizens to contribute to the ongoing investigations by providing valuable information that will help track down the hoodlums who also set bodies of the victims ablaze.
It was learnt that the victims who were not properly kitted were moving on earth road when they were brought down by armed men.
Trending videos of the attack on security agents, and relics of the burnt security patrol vans, hit social media have began to elicit reactions by Nigerians.
The Nigeria Police Command in Imo State had sidestepped inquiry from our Correspondent regarding the number of casualties recorded in the fatal attack.
The governorship election in Imo State is billed for November 2023.
