75 killed in Kwara for resisting religious extremists — Abdulrazak …Army battalion wade-in

Date:

Governor Abdulralman Abdulrazakn of Kwara State has attributed the brutal 75 persons in some villages in Woro and Nuku in Kaiama LGA on Tuesday evening to their alleged refusal to be indoctrinated by religious extremists.

It was learnt that gunmen reportedly stormed the areas and rounded up residents, bound their hands, and opened fire indiscriminately.

Abdulrazak made the allegation when he visited Kaiama Local Government Area, accompanied by security chiefs and cabinet members on Wednesday, as captured in a video shared on X.

He said, “We commiserate with you over the death of 75 of your subjects. May Allah grant them aljana Firdaus.

“And from the information I’ve been getting, this village appears to succumb to a perverted form of Islamic doctrine.

“They (terrorists) are lying under their immolation, abiding by their Islamic faith. And these villagers, they don’t want any alteration.

“And because they refuse to change doctrine in their faith, they were attacked and massacred.

“It’s different from what we used to see, where subjects are kidnapped or ransacked. But this was just a pure massacre. And it’s something truly condemned”, he said.

Conveying President Bola Tinubu condolences to the people and victims of the attack, the Governor
describing the massacre as a cowardly expression of frustration by terrorist cells.

He also disclosed that the President has approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion under “Operation Savannah Shield” to launch counter-offensives against the perpetrators”.
