Security operatives have recovered bodies of four personnel of the Nigeria police and three soldiers of the Nigerian Army killed by bandits on Thursday morning in Zamfara State.
The victims were ambushed by gunmen who attempted to invade Setraco Nigeria Limited construction and abduct expatriates in the company after a distress call on the axis.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Mohammed Dalijan said the security personnel were mobilized to the prevent the planned attack on the company when the unfortunate incident happened.
He explained that the “bandits had laid ambush had wanted to enter into Sentraco company to abduct some Staff of the company”.
“We heard the information. We sent our men, but they didn’t know that they (bandits) have laid ambush on the road. And as they were going into the company.
“They (security personnel) meant heavy resistance by the bandits opened fire and exchanged gunfire. In the process, we lost three soldiers and four policemen”, CP Dalijan said.
