A Veteran Staff Sergeant in the Nigerian Army, Amoke Simeon who led troops in the operation that ended the infamous reign of Abia-born Kidnap Kingpin, Obioma Nwankwo popularly Known as ‘Osisikankwu’ in Aba in 2010, is set to undertake medical treatment abroad.
Simeon, from Nsukka, Enugu State, but served in Abia State between 2010 to 2014, was reported to have been involved in auto crash while serving in the North Eastern part of Nigeria, after his service in Abia State, leading to his broken legs.
Governor Alex Otti, spoke when he received and honoured the Staff Sergeant in Umuahia, the State Capital, where he assured that the government will bankroll the medical bills of the brave military officer, who rejected millions of naira allegedly offered to him as a bribe by the notorious criminal gang.
During a meeting with the gallant soldier last Thursday, in his Office the Governor offered to fly him abroad for medical attention, with the State catering for his treatment to ensure he bounces back to sound health, while reflecting on how the violent activities had terrorised the state and forced many residents to flee.
The soldier, whose movement was aided
with clutches in the accompany of his care-giver and some former colleagues, narrated his ordeal and appreciated Governor Otti for coming to his rescue and offering to fly him abroad for proper medical attention.
Narrating his ordeal, Simeon said, “It was actually an accident, a vehicle accident in the Northeast. And it was wrongly managed. Because I was believing in the promise mad
e to me when they did the thing. But it was not getting better.
“I’m so happy, I’m so excited that Governor Otti can remember those who fought in Abia State. And being remembered, it will motivate the other military men in Abia State to know that whenever you are working, take money aside and do the job they ask you to do”, according to him.
