Soldier beats girlfriend’s phone repairer to death

Date:

The whereabouts of a Nigerian soldier, Lance Corporal Ahmada A, who reportedly beat up his girlfriend’s mobile phone repairer, identified as Alkasum Ibrahim, has sparked outrage in Adamawa State.

The tragic incident, according to Sahara Reporters, occurred on Wednesday in Mayo-Belwa area in Adamawa State, following delay by the phone repairer in fixing his girlfriend’s phone.

The soldier’s girlfriend had earlier brought her phone to Alkasum’s shop for repairs, according to witnesses who stated that for reasons yet unknown — possibly due to technical or workload-related issues — the repair wasn’t completed on time.

Consequently, the young lady reportedly lost her cool and called her soldier boyfriend, Lance Corporal Ahmad who stormed the workshop in a fit of rage.

Without warning, the Lance Corporal, descended on the unsuspecting technician, with heavy punches in the presence of stunned onlookers.

A bystander, Nuruddeen Abubakar who described the incident as “heartbreaking”, alleged that the brutal assault left Alkasum unconscious, and he later died from his injuries, while residents watched helplessly.

TheNewspad reports that members of the Civil society groups have joined the deceased family members in calling for justice on the part of the military authorities, which have commenced investigation that is yet to be made public, into the alleged murder.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Adamawa State, SP. Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident, assuring Nigerians that justice will be served.

The case is under investigation by the military, according to SP Nguroje who said, “We have been informed of the case.

He revealed that “The military authorities are currently conducting an internal investigation and are expected to hand over the suspect for further police action.”
