The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday began impeachment proceedings against governor of the State, Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh.
The plenary presided over by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, according to Channels Television.
The Assembly Speaker, Martins Amaewhule said the notice will be served to Fubara in the next seven days Assembly which is accusing Fubara and his deputy of gross misconduct.
Majority Leader, Major Jack, read out the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Fubara.
This was shortly after Linda Stewart, the deputy Majority Leader of the House, read out the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Oduh.
The lawmakers cited alleged seizure of salaries, allowances and other funds, contrary to Section 121(3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1999 as amended and other extant laws of the land.
TheNewspad reports that there was heavy security presence at the Assembly complex during the sitting.
