The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Corrections Jane Osuji as the new Service Public Relations Officer with immediate effect.
Osuji becomes the first national spokesperson of the 164-yesr-old Nigerian Correctional Service formerly known as the the Nigerian Prisons Service.

Deputy Controller-General of Corrections, Human Resources said in a statement that Osuji’s appointment follows the retirement of the immediate past Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Corrections, Umar Abubakar on 19th November, 2025.
“CSC Jane Osuji hails from Owerri – North Local Government Area of Imo State. She holds a BSc in Public Relations and Advertising from Lagos State University and Masters in Public Administration (MPA), from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The new Spokesperson was enlisted into the Nigerian Prisons Service on 2009 as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons 11 (as it was then called) and has attended all the requisite courses required for her rank.
She also attended numerous specialized courses including the Internal Security/Low Intensity Conflict Operations Course, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
Osuji has had a remarkable tour of duty having served in the following capacities; Assistant Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command and FCT Command Public Relations Officer before her posting to the National Headquarters as the Assistant National Public Relations Officer at the time, and served under four Controllers General.
The statement also revealed that Osuji, worked extensively as Press Secretary to three Ministers of Interior from 2015 to 2023.
Until her appointment as the Service Public Relations Officer, Osuji was a Staff of the Public Relations Unit at the Service Headquarters Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.
