Ize-Iyamu: Edo voters gave Okpebholo’s mandate

Date:

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has congratulated the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo on his victory at the Supreme Court, affirming his electoral mandate, which he insisted was freely given to the Governor by Edo voters during the September 21st 2024 governorship election.

On Thursday July 10th, Justice Mohammed Garba led five-member panel in the Alex Court unanimous decision, dismissed the appeal filed by the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo, seeking to nullify the outcome of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for lacking in merit.

“This judgment brings to a close the long and rigorous legal process following the 2024 governorship election. The apex court has spoken, and by its verdict, the mandate freely given to you by the good people of Edo State has been reaffirmed.

Ize-Iyamu who prayed that Okpebholo’s administration to be marked with peace, stated that politics will now pave the way for purposeful governance and solicited inclusive development that touches every part of Edo State.

“As we move forward, the challenges ahead will no doubt be immense – from restoring infrastructure and creating jobs to securing lives and property, improving education and healthcare, and rebuilding public trust in governance”, he said.
