The peaceful protesters who were armed with placards depicting their moods, were dispersed to different locations after unmasked men in large number, invaded the Secretariat premises.

Scores of protesters caught in the melee, were said to have been pelted with stones, while some of the female who stumbled, had bruises, while attempting to escape the attack, according to sources.

It was further learnt that bystanders and government workers who resumed for work, lamented the situation helplessly, while security personnel including police Constabularies around the vicinity, feigned ignorance.

Attempts by the news crew to reach the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, were unsuccessful.

Recall that Edo Government in a backhanded acknowledgment, said it repossessed over 1200 hectares of land in Irhirhi-Obazagbon-Ogheghe Areas that were allegedly encroached on by ‘land grabbers’ to pave the way for the proposed new town by the Government.
