Hoodlums avenging the murder of their two kinsmen has hacked 11 persons to death and razed 50 houses in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
In a statement, spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Nasarawa State, SP Ramhan Nansel, listed the affected Communities of Akyawa and Udege Kasa.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of on April 3, 2026, the same day, involved hoodlums went on the rampage and carried out a reprisal attack over the alleged killing of two of their unarmed kinsmen.
In course of the attack, according to the statement, “eleven persons were killed, while about fifty houses were burnt in Akyawa and two houses in Udege Kasa” areas.
During his visit to the crime scene, the statement said the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, consoled victims of the attack and assured them that the culprits will be caught and prosecuted.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, the police boss also assured victims families of the police Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is served during a stakeholders’ meeting held during his visit.
The statement noted that CP Shetima has ordered an intensive manhunt for all perpetrators of the heinous act, directing tactical teams and investigative units to ensure their prompt identification, arrest, and prosecution in response to the brutal attacks.
The Commissioner of Police further directed the immediate reinforcement and sustained deployment of Police personnel, in synergy with the Military and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to provide adequate security and restore lasting peace in the area to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
The CP urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to support ongoing investigations.

Police also reassured members of the public that normalcy has been restored to the affected Communities, while proactive measures are in place to prevent any recurrence of violence.
