A resident of Kutunku area in Gwagwalada, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) identified as Abdulrasheed Usman has reportedly slumped and died while breaking his Ramadan fast.
The tragedy happened on Saturday when the deceased and three of his friends were breaking fast in the area.
Suleiman Bala, witness, told Daily Trust that the
Usman and his friends were sitting on a bench eating fruits when he suddenly fell down.
The victim lost his life battle on his way to a nearby hospital, where a doctor on call confirmed him dead.
Usman, who had been buried according to Islamic rites, looked hale and hearty, returned from Kaduna at about 5:47p.m and rushed to join his friends to break his fast when the tragedy occured.
“One of his brothers said the deceased returned from Kaduna and went to join his friends where they normally relaxed. And when the Magrib prayer was called, he joined them to breakfast and it was in the process that the incident happened,’’ according to the witness.
Muslims all over the world began the Ramadan fast, began on Saturday following the sighting of the new crescent moon.
Ramadan is a holy month when Muslims are obligated to fast daily from from dawn to sunset and abstain from sexual activities.
