Court workers known as Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Kaduna State have resumed its suspended indefinite strike action.
In a notice dated Feb. 12 and signed by the Chairman, Auwalu Sarki, and Assistant Secretary, Nasir Haroun, the workers blamed the strike on the State government’s failure to implement agreements voluntarily reached with the union after months of negotiations.
The union’s notice, said the decision followed prolonged engagements and assurances that were not fulfilled.
NAN reports that the union recalled that it had earlier issued a demand letter on Sept. 1, 2025, an ultimatum on Oct. 9, 2025, and a notice of indefinite strike on Oct. 23, 2025, before suspending the action on Oct. 31, 2025, to allow for dialogue.
The notice, recalled several meetings were subsequently held involving representatives of the national body of JUSUN, the Kaduna State Government, and the Nigerian Bar Association in the past.
During a technical Committee and sub-committee were set up and resolutions reached with the State government, according to the notification.
“Regrettably, these agreements have not been implemented. The persistent failure to honour commitments and repeated unfulfilled assurances have left the union with no viable alternative,” according to the union, while appealing to the public and justice sector stakeholders to bear with any inconveniences the action has caused.
