How quick police, parental action led to suspects arrest in minors abuse case

Prompt action by a concerned parent and tactical detectives from the Darazo Division led to the immediate apprehension of two suspects in the Lanzai District of Darazo Local Government Area in Bauchi State.

 

Police said incident involves three minor sisters in the Lanzai District in the State where they were deceitfully lured by the suspects into an uncompleted building on September 4 and September 8, 2026.

 

The perpetrators subjected the young victims to severe criminal intimidation and threats to ensure their silence, according to the command’s spokesman,

SP Nafiu Habib.

 

He said in a statement that the swift apprehension of two young men linked to a distressing case of criminal intimidation and the sexual assault of three minor sisters.

 

Police reports painted the grim sequence of events came to light on September 11, 2026, around 4:00 PM, stated that concerned resident walked into the Darazo Police Division to report that his three young daughters had been targeted and abused.

 

​Investigations reveal that the victims were deceitfully lured into an uncompleted building on two separate occasions—specifically on September 4 and September 8, 2026 when the perpetrators carried out the alleged act.

 

​To ensure the children stayed silent, the suspects subjected them to severe criminal intimidation and threats.

 

However, the survivors’ family acted swiftly by bringing the ordeal to the attention of law enforcement authorities.

 

​Acting on the distress report, tactical detectives from the Darazo Division mobilized instantly.

 

The prompt response by the parents and the police led to the successful arrest of two prime suspects: 20-year-old Abubakar Muhammad Jatau and 18-year-old Umar, both male residents of the same local area.

 

​Following standard operational procedures, the young survivors were immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Darazo for comprehensive medical examinations and psychological care.

 

Meanwhile, police operatives processed the crime scene, securing vital evidence to strengthen the case.

 

​The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has strongly condemned the incident, declaring a firm zero-tolerance policy toward sexual violence against children.

 

He has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet, thorough probe before the suspects are arraigned in court.
