A routine workday took a dramatic turn when a Benin-based telecom technician, Ajani Taiwo, was attacked by ferocious dogs last week Thursday, leaving him hospitalized at Okhoro area in Benin.
Taiwo, a resident of Adesagbon Street off Okhoro Road in Egor Local Government Area, was at a site located behind a police division to install MTN network equipment on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Taiwo coordinated with the site’s power handler to open a door at approximately 1500 hours, according to investigation.
The moment the latch clicked, three aggressive dogs launched an attack on the technician before the owner, Ughanlunen Sandra, could intervene.
Horrified neighbours heard screams echoing through the residential area and rushed to the scene, launching a rescue effort that saved Taiwo from further injury.
The victim was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention after sustaining a head injury.
The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and stated that the dog owner was swiftly arrested by police operatives, following a formal complaint lodged by the victim at the Okhoro Police Division.
”Upon arrival, he contacted the person in charge of power to open the door, and as the door was opened, about three dogs attacked him before the owner, Ughanlunen Sandra, arrived the scene,” ASP Ikoedem stated.
The police spokesperson revealed that the victim sustained an injury to his head and that an investigation into the incident has commenced.
Following the attack, the Edo State Police Command urged pet owners and dog breeders to maintain a strict duty of care to ensure public safety at all times.
A dependable source said Sandra has been taken on bail from police custody; having resolved to write off medical bills of the victim.
