The Nigeria police Command in Anambra State has foiled an alleged plot to murder a citizen and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State.
The command also arrested four suspects and recovered two firearms and live ammunition in connection with the alleged plot.
The breakthrough, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, followed intelligence gathered through the renewed intelligence-led policing strategy of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.
Ikenga said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, acted on credible intelligence on the evening of August 12, 2026, and moved swiftly to disrupt the alleged criminal operation.
The suspects were identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi, while two firearms and live ammunition were recovered during the operation.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects were allegedly linked to a plot to murder a citizen and subsequently take over his landed properties,” the statement said.
The police spokesman, however, noted that investigation was ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other persons who might be connected to the plot and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each of the suspects.
According to the police, the four suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of investigations.
