Edo Speaker fires back at critics: Sobe electrification will be fixed on election year

Date:

The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has fired back at fifth Columnists, spreading false narratives that the Sobe electrification project has been abandoned by the State government.

He clarified that the electrification is headed for 2027 election year’s budget, which will also pave the way for commencement of work in the same electioneering year.

The Speaker expressed his commitment to seeing this project through to completion in a rebuttal issued by the lawmaker, representing Owan Constituency.

He said: “Ordinarily, I would not respond to baseless speculation.

Because the people of Sobe deserve nothing but the truth, it has become necessary to set the records straight”.

According to o him, the project is a major capital infrastructure undertaking that involves extending electricity from Sabongidda-Ora to Sobe.

“Owing to its scale and the huge financial commitment required, the necessary technical assessments and quotations have already been completed and submitted to the appropriate authorities.

“As with every major capital project of this magnitude, due process demands that it be captured in the State Budget before execution can commence.

“Consequently, the project is being processed for inclusion in the forthcoming 2027 fiscal year budget, which will be presented later this year.

“I therefore urge our people to disregard the false narratives being circulated by individuals whose stock-in-trade is to misinform the public and create unnecessary anxiety.

“Development is built on planning, due process, and responsible governance, not propaganda”, he said.
