A socialite, Yemi Adeyemi’s relaxation evening turned chaotic last week Thursday July 23, 2026, when suspected armed bandits rudely interrupted his relaxation at Advic Resort, Akure in Ondo State, and snatcher the Lexus RX350 SUV from the owner at gunpoint.
Instead of crying or accepting defeat, Adeyemi proceeded to a nearby police station and reported the theft, kicking off a police response so shockingly fast it gave the criminals intellectual insight.
A statement by the spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh recalled that by July 24, 2026, police detectives activated their their technology and chase down the signal of the stolen vehicle with impressive dedication and high-tech tracking.
The SUV was soon discovered near the FUTA campus completely intact, DSP Jimoh said the recovery was just a warm-up. On July 25, police scooped up suspects Adeoba Precious and Oluwapelumi Babayemi, proving that crime definitely does not pay off.
“Further intelligence-led operations led to another significant breakthrough on 25th July, 2026, with the arrest of two suspects.
The statement identified the the suspects as Adeoba Precious, 31 years and Oluwapelumi Babayemi, 30 years.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery activities within and outside the state.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.
“Subsequent searches conducted at their hideouts led to the recovery of a stun gun loaded with one rubber bullet, a jerk knife and the victim’s iPhone 13 Pro Max.
He explained that a raid on their hideout uncovered a terrifying arsenal: a stun gun, a dramatic jerk knife, and Adeyemi’s stolen iPhone were recovered from the suspects who confessed to the alleged crime.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, praised the tactical team, warning other criminals that the police are fully awake, caffeinated, and ready for action.
Forensic experts are examining the evidence while the police hunt for remaining gang members, teaching local crooks that stealing in Akure is a terrible career choice, according to the police spokesman.
