Jungle justice crackdown: Get the full story on the Boluwaji Temidayo assault case

Date:

Four criminal suspects are in police custody following a swift crackdown on attempted mob action and reported cyberbullying of a resident of Ondo State.

The arrest stems from an attack on resident Boluwaji Temidayo, who narrowly escaped being lynched in an attempted act of jungle justice.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, when Temidayo was physically assaulted, humiliated, and recorded without his consent by a group of individuals.

The footage was subsequently leaked and circulated across social media platforms, according to the investigation, which revealed that Temidayo formally reported the criminal act at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Thereafter, police operatives launched a digital and forensic tracking operation into the viral video to trace those behind the assault and distribution.

In response, the police said: ”A mere suspicion or allegation does not amount to guilt, and no individual or group has the legal authority to subject another person to physical assault, public humiliation, or extrajudicial punishment.”

The police Command

assured that the four suspects have made useful confessional statements while in custody.

Police authorities under Commissioner CP Felix Ohagwu, confirmed that investigations remain ongoing to track down additional accomplices.

He also said: All culpable parties will be formally charged in court upon conclusion of the probe, just as he strongly warned against engaging in mob violence or self-help justice across the State.
