Nigerians have condemned the assault viral footage of 2023 BBNaija star Ilebaye Odiniya, sparking outrage among fans who are raising safety concerns and calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
The reality TV star, was seen crying in an emotional live video in the early hours of Saturday, with some men in the footage circulating on social media, depicting the violent assault.
Displaying visible swelling on her face, Ilaboya pleaded for help in a defenceless position
repeatedly called on people to come to her aid as the disturbing incident unfolded during the livestream.
“Come and open the door, I want to be going”, she was heard saying in part, while at other moments she screamed, “Please come and help me”.
According to The Punch, details surrounding the alleged assault remain unclear as of the time of filing this report, and it has yet to be confirmed whether the matter was officially reported to law enforcement authorities.
Though Ilebaye or her management team has released an official statement providing further details about what transpired.
Clementina Omokaro wrote on Facebook: “Her useless narcissistic hediot of a father should be arrested immediately. Lazy man.
“Since that girl win them nor allow her rest. This is the classic Monica story playing out here. When parents feel entitled. Let her travel abroad jor and disclaim all of them. These are animals not family”.
Ori Silas said, “I want to state unequivocally that men restrain from beating their wives no matter the level of Provocations. I have never seen a male dog beat a female dog, animals don’t beat their spouses.
“Any man that beat his wife is less than an animal. I am also not unaware of some defiant women, women that will use their mouths and run their husband’s, some even go as far as molesting and abusing their men .
“They will be the first to hit their husband’s, on event of retaliation they start running to social media to cry foul. Men in all of these, resist the temptations of hitting them back please.
“As couples, you must device a means of settling internal wranglings without degenerating into a show of force. Quarrels between couples is a normal thing, but should not degenerate into the clash of the titans.
“In all of these, men should understand that a woman’s weapon of warfare is her mouth, if they start driving their mouths rough, report them to God”, he said.
According to Jamila Muhammad, “It was her dad that was beating her like that o, and by the way they said she’s safe now she’s at the hospital “.
While Chukwu Ebuka wrote: “I guess that’s her father and her younger brother trying to stop his father from hitting her. Make we dey use our brains at times”, Nancy Tracy queried, “I learnt it’s her father that hit her so badly”.
“How can a father hit a 25 year old with such brutality. I see some people in the comment, laughing at someone who is a serious condition and calling for help, smh.
“What if this results to something more dangerous? I wonder how people just sit in their houses and try to trivialize the pains of others.
“Now, she spoke up and you’re still making fun of her?”, she enthused.
