The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, has commiserated with the family of the former Vice Chancellor of the University and first Professor of Education in Northern Nigeria, Professor Adamu Baikie, CON, on his passing at the age of 94.
Professor Baikie, who was Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin from 1978 to 1986, died in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The late nonagenarian later became Vice Chancellor, National University of Lesotho, and Nasarawa State University.
In a statement, the spokesperson of the University, Dr Benedicta Ehanire said Professor Omoregie described the former Vice Chancellor as an astute educationist and administrator who charted many innovative and impactful paths in the educational history of Nigeria and across Africa, where he left an indelible footprints.
He urged the family of the distinguished departed academic and administrator to be consoled by his fulfilled life of immense service within and outside the Country.
Professor also Omoregie prayed God to grant the soul of the late Professor Adamu Baikie eternal rest and comfort his family, friends, and associates.
