Tinubu gifts each D’Tigress player $100,000, nat’l honours

President Bola Tinubu has rewarded each D’Tigresses player with the sum of $100,000 for emerging Champion at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament.

He also awarded $50,000 to each member of the technical crew
in recognition of their role in the victorious team’s success in the competition

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu conferred national national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) to both team and crew on Monday when he hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, for lifting the title the 4th consecutive time.

Each player and the technical crew will also get a flat, according to the President who rewarded them the same was he rewarded the Super Falcons last week for winning the 2024 WAFCON competition hosted in Morocco.

Tinubu hailed D’Tigress for demonstrating patriotism, dedication to achieving success and putting Nigeria on the global sporting field.

Earlier in her remarks, the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, commended the team, the Coach and the technical crew for their resilience at the 2025 senior FIBA Women’s Afro basketball competition.
