Police arrest robbery suspects terrorizing ABSU

The Nigeria police Command in Abia State has arrested four robbery suspects terrorizing the Abia University, Uturu (ABSU) area in the State, as investigation to apprehend other fleeing accomplices continue.

In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chioma gave the names of all the male suspects as Jerry Chisom and Tochukwu Ugula who are both 32 years, Chinonso Nwankwo, 28 and 19-year-old Kingsley Onyekeba.

The quartet was nabbed following a report received at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters on 16th July 2025 at about 15:49 hours, regarding a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing and dispossessing students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and other residents of their belongings.

DSP Chioma revealed that the officers from the Uturu Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with local residents, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully traced the hideout of the suspects and apprehended four male suspects.

Part of the statement reads: “On 16/07/2025 at about 15:49hrs, following a report received at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters regarding a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing and dispossessing students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and other residents of their belongings.

“Officers from the Uturu Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with local residents, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully traced the hideout of the suspects and apprehended four male suspects”, according to DSP Chiamaka.

The spokesperson said a locally made pistol, knife, one iPhone 7 Plus, one Infinix mobile phone and a laptop were recovered from the arrested criminal suspects by the police.

The police Command also identified and dismantled other criminal camps and activities of criminals around Uturu/Isuikwuato area in the State.
