CP tightens noose on kidnappers of Edo students

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika has ordered immediate deployment of tactical teams to go after kidnappers that attacked and abducted three students (Seminarians) at the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The team includes operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping and Intelligence Units in collaboration with other security agencies, vigilantes and hunters to rescue the hostages and
hunt the assailants who also killed operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, NSCDC.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, CSP Moses Yamu said CP Agbonika gave the marching order when he visited the scene of the incident, which occurred on 10th of July 2025 at about 2100hrs, to assess the situation firsthand, commiserate with the affected Community.

In a statement, the police Image maker said CP Agbonika, described the senseless act of violence against the religious institution and students abduction and
reinforced the Command’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice for victims.

The Commissioner commiserated with the family of the fallen NSCDC officer who was killed during the incident, the NSCDC leadership, the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, and the families of the abducted students during this difficult time.

“This senseless act of violence against a religious institution and innocent young students is not only barbaric but also a direct assault on public peace and security”, according to CP Agbonika who was accompanied on the visit by a Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Commanding Officer 60PMF, Area Commander Agenebode, DPO Agenebode and OC Anti-Kidnapping.

Speaking further, CP Agbonika said, “we assure the public that this Command is fully committed to the protection of lives and property. We will not relent until those behind this reprehensible act are tracked down and made to face the full wrath of the law”.

The statement also said the Commissioner of Police called on members of the public to remain calm and support the ongoing operations with timely and credible information that can aid investigations.
