Kogi girl killed during ‘money-for-sex’ fight

Date:

Tragedy struck when a University of Nigeria, UNN undergraduate, Emmanuel Gambo reportedly hacked his 22-year-old girlfriend, Deborah Sam-Praise Ememem to death during a tussle over sex-for-money at Nsukka, Enugu State, South Eastern Nigeria.

According to police investigation, the second-year student of Material and Metallurgical Engineering at UNN, checked into the hotel on June 14, 2025, at about 9p.m. in Obukpa, Nsukka, with the Kogi State-born Deborah.

Trouble started when the second round of sexual intercourse from the victim who was said to have turned down his request over his failure to part with extra ₦15,000 she demanded from Gambo in addition to the sum of ₦5,000 he earlier paid to the victim.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Enugu State, SP Daniel Ndukwe alleged that the disagreement turned violent, resulting in the suspect strangulating the victim to death.

He explained that the suspect murderer, who used a false name to lodge in the hotel, tucked the deceased’s body in a towel and a curtain torn from the hotel room and hid the corpse underneath the bed and thereafter disappeared with the victim’s iPhone, tablet, earbuds, and other personal belongings.

The stench that emanated from the room hours later, prompted the Management of the hotel whose name was yet-to-be named, to alert police authorities to intervene and recover her dead body.

Report said the case was initially reported at Nsukka Urban Police Division, was later transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) for thorough investigation.

“On June 16, 2025, at about 9a.m., hotel staff noticed some foul odour coming from the room. Upon investigation, the decomposing body was discovered concealed beneath the bed”, according to the police.

The suspect had provided a false name and unreachable phone number on the hotel’s registration form, which initially hindered efforts to trace and arrest him.

The police spokesman said, “acting on credible and painstakingly gathered intelligence, the police detectives located and arrested the suspect at his lodge in Nsukka on July 2, 2025.

“During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The deceased’s iPhone was immediately recovered from him.

“A bottle of Asconi Agor red wine, which the deceased had brought to the hotel, was also found in his possession.

“He later led detectives to recover the deceased’s Redmi tablet and earbuds, which he had thrown out through the hotel window in a bag after committing the crime,” he said.

TheNewspad reports that the criminal suspect, Emmanuel Gambo who was tracked and arrested with high-powered tech by police operatives, is said to have confessed to his alleged crime, and he will soon have his date in the law court.
