Three women who were abducted by gunmen in Edo State have regained their freedom after parting with the sum of N400,000 (Four Hundred Thousand Naira) as ransom.

A well-placed source said the hostages were kidnapped at a remote area while harvesting corn in a farm in Uhunmwode Council area of the State when the incident occurred last week.

A relative of one of the hostages that sells roasted corn near the Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service at Oko Prison staff gate on Airport Road in Oredo Local government Area of the State, revealed that her sister, returned home on Thursday May 18. 2023.

TheNewspad request for an interview with the family member of the corn seller, was turned down by the family member for ‘security reason’.

“My sister is back home alive. And we paid N400,000 before they were released”, the source said.

The spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Edo State, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing this report.
