The President-elect of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu will unveil the Memorial Park in honour of victims of Owo terror attack in Ondo State, Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said on Saturday.
41 persons including worshipers died and many others injured in the attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa street in the locality.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State who disclosed this while inspecting the project, said, Tinubu will perform the exercise one week after his swearing-in on May 29, 2023.
He expressed thanks to God that one of the survivors of the terror attack whose legs were amputated and procured a prosthesis by the State government to enable the female victim work.
According to him, “Come rain, come sunshine, this project must be completed before the end of May. When this incident (attack) happened, our President-elect was here.
“I know that by the time we tell him we have this Memorial Park for him to come and commission it, I think it will be a joy to him. That will be just a week after his inauguration, I pray he will come so that he can see this Memorial Park.
“For us, we are determined not to forget the souls that have departed. They were 41 in number. And others that are still nursing the wounds, although they have gone back to their homes, they have been discharged, some of them are outpatients.
The Governor also said that “Her rehabilitation is moving on well and we are sure that she will still live a normal life. That is what I believe, she will live a normal life”.
TheNewspad reports that Tinubu had donated the sum of N50 million to victims of the attack after condemning the attack, while State governor, promised to pay all the medical bills of the victims.
