Election-bound police personnel have issued stern warning to ‘no election campaigners and instigators of sit-at-home in South East not to test their might before, during and after the conduct of the Presidential and National elections on Saturday in the region.
TheNewspad reports that region which comprises, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi Abia and Anambra States, have lately become epicenter of violent extremists, leading to the deaths of many Civilians and security personnel and attacks on government-owned assets including police stations and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices.
Addressing Senior officers and men Police headquarters in Awka, Anambra State on the eve of the elections, DIG John Amadi, dismissed Biafra agitation in Nigeria.
He stated that nobody born of woman can disrupt the election in the region, assuring that residents of the State not to fear, but come out and exercise their franchise peacefully during Saturday polls.
In line with the presidential directive, DIG Amadi said directed security agencies to deploy enough security operatives in the region to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
He said: “I am in charge of the South East Region and am assuring you that nothing like Biafra Land in Nigeria..”Nobody born of woman can disrupt the election in this region.
“We are here to carry out the president and Inspector General of police instructions to the later.” Those who may want to disrupt the election should be ready to pay with their lives”, DIG Amadi said.
The police boss also urged abiding citizens have nothing to fear. The police, military, and other security agencies are battle ready,so go and sleep there is no cause for alarm.
“We have provided adequate security network in all polling units and I am directing the commissioner and area commanders to wake up from their slumber.
“Go and tell you men to get battle ready. You must make sure you are not taken unawares and ensure that all the structure we put in place are intact”, he said.
