The Nigeria police Command in Ebonyi State has confirmed the murder of three border patrol police personnel by unknown gunmen on Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway, South Eastern part of Nigeria.

SP Chris Anyanwu, the Command’s spokesman in a terse statement on Sunday, said the gunmen struck at at about 1808hrs on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

He revealed that the hoodlums in operated in two Sienna vehicles, drove into the check-point on Saturday and opened fire on the policemen dead.

The statement partly read, “Yesterday’s (Saturday’s) attack by unknown gunmen at Ebonyi/Enugu boundary took place at about 1808hrs.

Three Police personnel of Operation Safer Highway, fatally injured. Later confirmed dead. Hoodlums operated in two sienna vehicles, drove into the check-point, opened fire on the policemen”.

A confidential source said a policeman who sustained gunshot injury in connection with the attack, is receiving treatment at undisclosed hospital in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital.
