A Benin-based human rights activist, Patrick Eholor has faulted the Election Petition Tribunal over Buga’ comments on Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke in courtroom.
The social critic described the ‘courtroom antics’ where a member of the three-man panel led by Justice Tertse Kume, which nullified Adeleke’s victory as a foul language that ought not be mentioned in the temple of justice.
Recall that after Ademola Adeleke, Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had picked up ‘Buga bug’ from Kiss Daniels song in a sensational dance video, following his victory over the former governor of the State, Adegboyega Oyetola who was the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State governorship polls.
Reacting to the judgement by the Osun State governorship election last Friday, which among other reasons including over voting and non-substantial compliance with the electoral laws, Eholor, wondered why the judges had to reference ‘Buga dance’ instead of sticking to the petition brought before the court ‘sticto senso’.
The social critic in his Facebook post on Saturday said, “I’m not saying that there are no good few judges but I’m saying that most of them have a huge appetite for money and we castigate the ordinary people and call them all sort of names.
“They referenced the word “buga” in that judgement because Adeleke was dancing Buga instead of paying attention to Osun people who voted him into power.
“I hope and pray that the judges see that we are humans and dancing is part of the human character.
“I hope people don’t lose hope completely on the judiciary because it is the last hope of the common man”, Eholor popularly called ‘Ultimate Equal’ clarified.
