Men of the Nigeria Police, Rivers State Command have uncovered a baby factory in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State.
Pregnant teenagers and victims of child trafficking allegedly kept by child trafficking cartel in Igwuruta and Omagwa Communities, were rescued during the raid by police operatives.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s spokesperson in Rivers said the C4i Intelligence Unit, Operatives of the Command raided the two buildings where 15-year-old teenager and pregnant women as well as nurse infants were found.
Four suspects including a child trafficking ring run by an alleged fake reverend sister were arrested by the police in connection with the incidents.
She disclosed that the trafficked victims were lured with the promise of financial reward depending on the sex of the baby they delivered.
One of the victims alleged that she was promised the sum of N800,000 if she births a male child, and N700,000 for a female, according to reports.
The Police image maker also revealed that both the victims and suspects are in the custody of the CP Monitoring Unit at the weekend.
Iringe-Koko however assured that the suspects will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for diligent investigation.
