Commercial sex workers at a popular Brothel on First East Circular in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State have been thrown into mourning over the death of one of their departed colleagues last weekend.
It was learned that the late squatter who died of undisclosed illness, was identified by her let name, ‘Titi’.
She reportedly died while she was been taken to the University of Benin (UBTH) for medical care.
A source who was privy to daily routine at the Brothel, said the 5 feet light skin Lady was yet to visit her home State since she got involved in sex trade over the 12 years.
In a rare display of affection, Titi’s colleagues and her female friends at the Brothel, observed 30 minutes silent to pay tribute and keep her memory alive despite the pensive mood, observed by bystanders.
The business of the day thereafter resumed after one of the ‘women of easy virtue’, reminded her roommate to put behind the past in order to meet up her N1000 daily rent to the Brothel Management, one of the DJs attached to the red light district said.
He said “the regular evening party suspended his service for 30 minutes to enable friends and well-wishers pay her last respect after her body was laid to rest earlier in one of the cemeteries in Edo State.
The DJ who craved for anonymity, said late Titi’s relatives who hails from South West were shocked to learn that their sister who claimed to be working in a Multinational Organization in Benin, was into prostitution at Brothel.
“Our Manager did all he could to save her life including financial assistant. But Titi, as nice as she was, never told anyone what was wrong with her”, the DJ said.
A Multi choice pay television agent near the Brothel said, Titi was reported dead few hours after he was taken out of the Brothel, which recorded low traffic of human activities on the day the tragedy occurred.
The middle-aged also hinted that Titi property was immediately ferried away by her relatives including the DSTV decoder she subscribed for N5500 bosque for December from him few days before her transition.
“My dear. I never knew that that woman has not travelled home since the past 12 years until for her brothers came. They couldn’t pay her ambulance. Instead, they buried her at a cemetery”, he said.
The businessman also revealed that the Brothel management finally contacted Titi family via her mobile phone after several failed attempts.
Another trader who deals on household wares near the Brothel, expressed regret over the careless lifestyle of Titi for refusing to quit smoking against medical advice.
“Titi was said to have liver problems; yet, she didn’t quit smoking before she said”, he said.
