Suspected kidnappers of a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, in University of Ibadan (UI), Adigun Agbaje, have placed the sum of N10 million each on two other hostages in their custody.
Miss Orekoya Oluwatobi is one of the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State that were kidnapped last Friday on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway.
A police officer, attached to the Nigeria police Command in Oyo State, was also killed in a shoot out with the hoodlums during the incident.
President of the Student Union of the polytechnic, Damilola Ajani said, the kidnappers have opened back communication channel with the family of the abducted students.
Mr Adewale Osifeso, the spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Oyo State, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Part of the statement read, “In an attempt to engage the gunmen, “an officer attached to the command paid the supreme price with one other badly injured and presently responding to treatment.
“So far, expended ammunition shells and four abandoned vehicles were retrieved at the scene.
“Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, has ordered full-scale scientific and technological aided investigations to unravel the events that led to the incident with the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department leading the charge”, Osifeso said.
