Cleric seeks N350m damages from Bishop Oyedepo for alleged dismissal

A pastor in the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel in Calabar, Cross River State, has sued the Bishop of the church incorporated, alleging that his dismissal did not follow the Mandate/operational manual relied upon by the church to sack erring staff.

The Claimant, Dominic Essang in a suit No: NICN/CA/25/2022, filed at the National Industrial Court, within the jurisdiction of the area, seeking the sum of N350 million as aggravated damages over his dismissal by the church authorities.

He accused the church and its founder, David Oyedepo, and Adebisi Aboluwade, Senior Pastor in the Ministry where he had served for more than two decades of persecution, maltreatment and frustration.

Essang told journalists that he was nit giving a fair hearing in line with “The Living Faith’s operational mandate, before was allegedly sacked.

“I was not given the opportunity to appear before any disciplinary panel to defend myself.

“As I speak to you, I can’t even pay my children’s school fees nor pay my rent, or afford food, clothing and medicine for my kids”, according to Essang.

But the Administrative Officer of the church in Cross River State, Den Taiwo denied the claims by the Clamant, and urged the court to discountenance the suit.

25 October, 2022 has been fixed for hearing of the suit by the court.
